Bonegilla: People, Past and Place
Bonegilla: People, Past and Place is an educational resource for use at the primary school level. This website outlines a Unit of Work and materials that can be used to provide students with the opportunity to:
- work towards outcomes outlined in the ‘Change and Continuity’ and ‘Culture’ strands of the Board of Studies NSW Human Society and Its Environment (HSIE) K-6 Syllabus (1998).
- ‘develop understandings and values about themselves and others and their heritage’… and an appreciation ‘that cultures are dynamic and evolve over time.’ (Board of Studies 1998, p.10).
Bonegilla: People, Past and Place provides an opportunity for teachers to encourage students to engage with the past in order to construct knowledge and understandings about their local, national and global community.
The resource provides for exploration of heritage and presents opportunities for addressing subject matter that develops students’ intercultural understandings by involving them in thinking and talking about people, their cultures, their values, and their societies.
